The Woodland at Risk

Just south of Croydon, nestled between suburban streets, lies one of London’s last remaining pockets of ancient woodland: Croham Holt Wood.

It’s home to over 150 species of plants, 30 species of birds, and a breeding population of the protected spotted flycatcher — a bird in steep national decline. The woodland is rich with oak, hornbeam, bluebells and history. It’s a living link to our past.

But now, this ancient sanctuary is at risk.
